Praying in Defiance

Daniel 6               Unit 16 Session 3

It is better to live with prayer, than to die without.

I. Prayer is a legitimate public testimony

Does this mean Daniel was a hypocrite?

(Matt 6:5-6) And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that  they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their  reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and  pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret  will reward you.

II. Daniel’s testimony is a life built on prayer

Daniel was making a statement;… about his Relationship with God.

Daniel could not bring himself to go underground.

III. Daniel’s prayer was disciplined and regular

Do you currently practice disciplined prayer?

List the things that could be different about your life if you did.

IV. Prayer is more precious than life.

Daniel knew he was headed for the Lions Den.

Not praying was worse than being eaten by lions
